Sociologiska institutionen

Presentation

Forskningen vid Sociologiska institutionen i Uppsala utmärks av sin mångfald. Här finns företrädare för skilda teoretiska perspektiv och metodologiska utgångspunkter, vilket möjliggör en mycket livaktig och kreativ forskningsmiljö. Vid institutionen finns sammanlagt 9 professorer på heltid; fem i sociologi, en i sociologi med inriktning mot handikapp, två i sociologi med inriktning mot äldre och en i sociologi med inriktning mot kvinnoforskning. Vidare är två professorer i sociologi med inriktning mot bostads- och urbansociologi, som är anställda vid Institutet för bostads- och urbanforskning (IBF) i Gävle knutna till institutionen på deltid.

Forskarutbildningen bedrivs genom kurser och deltagande i någon av de seminarieserier som leds av institutionens professorer eller docenter.

Openings for Doctoral Candidates in Sociology[1] at the Department of Sociology, Uppsala University / Utlysande av doktorandplatser i sociologi vid Sociologiska institutionen, Uppsala Universitet (ansökan till forskarutbildning i sociologi)

Deadline for Applications is September 15, 2009 / Sista ansökningsdag 15 september 2009.

Subject to necessary funds being made available, the Department of Sociology announces a number of openings for Ph.D.-candidates starting February 1, 2010:

At least 1 opening for qualified Ph.D-candidates in Sociology, specialization to be suggested by the candidate (dnr SOC 2009/23 ); and

In collaboration with Södertörns Högskola:
Up to 3 openings for qualified Ph.D-candidates in Sociology with an emphasis on the Baltic Sea Region and Eastern Europe (dnr SOC 2009/23 + dnr Södertörn 517/22/2009).

Successful candidates may be awarded doktorandtjänster (employment as doctoral candidates) for a full period of four years, or may – depending on the availability of funds – initially be awarded utbildningsbidrag (scholarship) for a maximum of two years. Successful doctoral candidates are, however, entitled to employment as doctoral candidates for the last two years of the four year programme.

Chosen candidates in Sociology with an emphasis on the Baltic Sea Region and Eastern Europe will already from the start be awarded doktorandtjänster (employments as doctoral candidates) at Södertörns Högskola (located in the southern Stockholm Region) and will at the same time be admitted to the doctoral programme at the Department of Sociology in Uppsala. Applicants are thus advised that successful candidates will be employed and have the responsibilities of an employee at Södertörns Högskola (south of Stockholm). There is no formal prerequisite as regards fluency in the Swedish language, but successful candidates from other countries are expected to acquire at least a working knowledge of everyday Swedish within a rather short period of time.
