The Gender research at the Department of Sociology comprises of scholars at different academic levels from doctoral candidates to professors. The feminist research linked to the genderresearch ranges from a variety of sociological and interdisciplinary fields such as queer and bi theory, critical masculinity studies, postcolonial perspectives on gender and whiteness, technology research, Islam and feminism, sociology of childhood, gender and violence, disability studies and urban studies. The Sociology of Gender in Uppsala is characterized by its broad and intersectional approach from a sociological perspective, and with mostly qualitative approaches in the empirical work.
