Presentation postgraduate education

Research at the Department of Sociology, Uppsala University, covers a broad range of areas and approaches. Such variety in theoretical and methodological perspectives has helped to produce a vivid and creative research environment here at the Department, which employs nine Professors, in addition to several active Professores Emeriti: five Professors of Sociology, one Professor of Sociology with a specialty in Disability Studies, two Professors of Sociology with a specialty in Social Gerontology, and one Professor of Sociology with a specialty in Women’s Studies. Two Professors of Sociology with a specialty in Housing and Urban Sociology, employed at the Institute for Housing and Urban research (IBF), Gävle, are affiliated to the Department on a part-time basis. The Professors, together with six Associate Professors, provide the mainstay of supervision within the doctoral programme.

The doctoral program is comprised of postgraduate courses and active participation in one (or several) of the seminar series, which are chaired by Professors and Associate Professors.
