Board of Supervisors (HK)
The Board of Supervisors is responsible for many aspects of doctoral students’ research – the examination of doctoral students’ work, the discussion of problems related to supervision and doctoral students’ research situation, as well as suggestions regarding the selection of supervisors, spokespersons, opponents, and the committee which will eventually evaluate a doctoral candidate’s final defence of his/her thesis. The Board also submits suggestions to the Head of the Department with regard to accepting, and appointing, students to the post of doctoral candidate. Furthermore, the Board deals with the issue of evaluating an individual’s scientific merits, or qualifications. The Board of Supervisors is comprised of the Department of Sociology’s supervisors, the spokesperson of which is one of the Department’s Professors.
