Board of Graduate Studies (FUN)

The Board of Graduate Studies (FUN) deals with comprehensive questions related to graduate education, which have been sanctioned by the Departmental Board (Institutionsstyrelsen). Examples of relevant issues include the choice of available PhD courses, forms of teaching and examination, evaluation and quality of PhD education, the monitoring of doctoral students’ rights and working conditions, and so on.
The Departmental Board allocates funds, as part of its budget, to the Board of Graduate Studies (FUN), and designates board members within the following categories: Professor, other supervisor, and doctoral student, subsequent to a hearing of the Board of Supervisors (handledarkollegium), and a doctoral student meeting. The term of office for doctoral students is one year, while for all others, it is three years. The Director of Graduate Studies has a degree of involvement in the presentation of reports to the Board of Graduate Studies, although s/he may not vote on the issues raised there.
