2013-08-28 European Studies in Symbolic Interaction:Traditions, Contemporary Perspectives, and Challenges
The Fourth Conference of the European Society for the Study of Symbolic Interaction (EU SSSI) was hosted by the Department of Sociology in Uppsala, 28-30 August 2013
The Conference was an interdisciplinary venture of social and humanitarian sciences that brought together the efforts of scholars from two Swedish universities and five university departments. It was organized by the Department of Sociology, Uppsala University, and the Department of Social Psychology, Institute for Technology and Society, University of Skövde, with the cooperation of the Department of Cultural Geography, the Institute for Housing and Urban Research, and the Department of Cultural Anthropology and Ethnology at Uppsala University. The interdisciplinary character of the Conference reflected the unusual career of symbolic interactionism as a product of an interdisciplinary movement that was initially harbored by sociology, but gradually spread and grew roots in a variety of social and humanitarian sciences.
